NESN Clubhouse: What We Learned

On Sunday’s episode of NESN Clubhouse, young Red Sox fans celebrated Mother’s Day in a big way, stumping NESN Clubhouse host Gary Striewski with a special edition of “Test the Talent” and asking their favorite Red Sox players about their own Mother’s Day traditions.

This week, young NESN Clubhouse host TJ took a trip to Fenway Park to get the low-down from head groundskeeper Dave Mellor on what his crew does to get the playing field in tip-top shape.

After taking the group to the new Disney movie “Million Dollar Arm,” Gary Striewski tested the radar gun in the pitching cage and had some stiff competition from several young pitchers.

Young fans also got the chance to stump their parents — and mothers — by learning how many Mike Napoli’s it would take to reach first base from home plate.

They also learned what kind of ball hurts the most to get hit by, how far Globe Life Park in Arlington (the home of the Texas Rangers) is from Boston and how to write a pitcher’s stat line, using Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester’s no-hitter in 2008 as an example.

All in all, it was an exciting Mother’s Day on NESN Clubhouse!
