Small Talk: Zdeno Chara Talks About Winning The Stanley Cup

In this week’s edition of “Small Talk,” Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara answers the big questions from little kids.

1. How do you do your slap shot perfectly, and get it to a speed of 108 mph?
I just try to really work on that, and since I started playing hockey, I’ve always liked to shoot really hard, and just practice.

2. Do you like Michael Jackson?
I actually, believe it or not, I do like Michael Jackson. I saw his concert in Vegas and I really liked it. My daughter loves Michael Jackson, too.

3. If I won the Stanley Cup, I’d jump in the air and say “Yes!” What did you do when you won?
I was screaming like crazy, I was very happy, and it was obviously one of the greatest moments in my life.

4. Was it hard to give the Stanley Cup back?
It was kind of a sad moment, but at the same time I was very happy that I had a chance to bring it home and share it with my friends and family and cherish that moment with them. So, kind of mixed feelings.

5. Do you ever forget what you’re about to say?
I have an answer for you, and I forgot what I was about to say.

6. When do you speak other languages?
I speak also Slovak at home with my family, and obviously outside of the home, I speak English. But it’s great that you are bilingual, and please keep it up. Keep adding some languages. It’s only going to help you.

7. What’s your favorite TV show?
My daughter’s favorite show is also “SpongeBob Squarepants,” but she also loves “My Little Pony,” and there’s one more she really loves, “Mia and Me.”
